Today, most churches declare their adherence to scripture and their belief in the inerrancy of scripture, but in practice they pick and choose which parts of the Bible to obey and which to ignore. Modern Christianity is incredibly ignorant of the history and theology of the church, and heavily relies on what is taught in church for their beliefs, rather than studying scripture and the history of the church.
Many respected and learned theologians of today likewise pay lip-service to obedience to scripture, and even write articles and blog posts justifying their disobedience, in the name of scripture. Pastors and preachers simply regurgitate what they were taught in seminary with no research outside of what has been deemed orthodox by their professors and lecturers.
There is no real pursuit of truth and obedience in modern Christendom.
The Anvil exists to counter this reality by doing exactly what is not done: pursuing truth and obedience to scripture, through careful research.
